Results from the First 75 Days of the
Invincible America Course at Maharishi University
of Management in Fairfield, Iowa
Stock Market
Booms, Oil and Gas Prices Plummet,
and No Hurricanes Hit U.S. Shores
Largest
Scientific Demonstration Project
Saves the Nation $200 Billion So Far
“America is being
transformed by the rise of coherence in national consciousness created
by the group of 1200 Yogic Flyers in Washington, D.C., and Iowa.
As the number rises to 2000, any lingering problems will be quickly
resolved.”
—World-renowned
quantum physicist Dr. John Hagelin
A surprisingly
robust U.S. economy and a booming stock market, a successful
U.S.-brokered cease-fire in Lebanon, and an unexpectedly benign
hurricane season are among the clear signs of success of the first 75
days of the largest scientific demonstration project ever to monitor the
effect of group Yogic Flying practice on the economic, social, and even
climatic trends of the nation.
This is the
assessment of world-renowned quantum physicist Dr. John Hagelin,
director of the ongoing national demonstration project, which is being
funded through a generous gift of $12 million a year by the “Howard and
Alice Settle Foundation for an Invincible America.”
Signs of
Success
Dr. Hagelin said
that since the “Invincible America Course” began on July 23 with 1200
advanced Transcendental Meditation–Yogic
Flying experts in Washington, D.C., and Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa,
national trends have improved dramatically, as publicly predicted by
researchers before the course began: |
|

|
• A faltering U.S.
economy has suddenly turned robust—led by a booming stock market, which
pulled out from its downward spiral in mid-July and has since climbed
nearly 1000 points, breaking all-time records
• The price of
oil, which peaked at $78 a barrel in mid-July, has plummeted more than
25% to below $58 a barrel—with gas prices dropping 25% as well
• A surprisingly
effective U.S.-brokered cease-fire in Lebanon has prevented a dangerous
escalation of violence in the region
• Dire predictions
of a destructive Atlantic hurricane season have proven unfounded, as no
hurricanes have struck U.S. shores this year
“This dramatic
transformation in national trends, which began with the start of the
demonstration project, is no mere coincidence or anomaly,” Dr. Hagelin
said. “This transformation is the direct result of the increased
coherence in national consciousness created by the 1200 Yogic Flyers.”
According to Dr.
Hagelin, the nation has saved at least $200 billion in hurricane costs
(Katrina alone caused an estimated $150 billion in damages), with untold
billions more added to the economy by the bullish stock market.
Extensive
published research confirms the benefits of the “Maharishi Effect”
Dr. Hagelin cited
prior research, published in leading, peer-reviewed scientific journals,
which has documented reduced negative trends, including reduced crime
and violence, and improved economic and social trends when as few as the
square root of one percent of a population practice Yogic Flying
together in a group.
Scientists named
this phenomenon the “Maharishi Effect” after His Holiness Maharishi
Mahesh Yogi, the renowned Vedic scholar who founded the Transcendental
Meditation program, and who predicted the beneficial impact of group
meditation on social trends as early as 1975. |
|
Creating the
“Meissner Effect” for the nation
Dr. Hagelin, who
serves as President of the US Peace Government and Minister of Science
and Technology of the Global Country of World Peace, said that group
Yogic Flying practice creates the equivalent in society of the “Meissner
Effect” of physics.
“The Meissner
Effect refers to the ability of a superconductor to spontaneously repel
any disruptive influences, due to the coherent functioning of its atomic
constituents,” Dr. Hagelin said. “The Meissner Effect explains how
coherent national consciousness created by the Yogic Flyers can
similarly repel any disruptive influence—terrorism, conflict, or even a
hurricane—and prevent it from inflicting damage on the nation.”
Group of 2000
Yogic Flyers needed to make the nation invincible
Dr. Hagelin
acknowledged that serious problems persist in the world, but said that
as the number of Yogic Flyers in the U.S. reaches the square root of one
percent of the U.S. population (about 2000), there will be an even more
dramatic improvement in national trends, and any lingering problems will
be quickly resolved.
“This is not
wishful thinking,” Dr. Hagelin said. “This is hard science that has been
field-tested for over 50 years and documented through more than 600
studies conducted at over 250 independent universities and research
institutes throughout the world.”
Establishing a
“Ring of Invincibility” around the globe
for permanent world peace
Dr. Hagelin added
that similar groups of Yogic Flyers are now being established in 39 more
countries to create a “Ring of Invincibility” around the globe and
quickly raise the whole world to a state of permanent peace.

Predictions for Bull Market Borne Out as Dow Tops 12,000!
Dow and S&P Soar 10% during First
88 Days of Invincible America Course,
New Research Shows
Adds $1.5 Trillion in Corporate Net
Worth
Wall Street Boom to Surge Ahead
“The
probability of observing such a large increase
in the rate of growth purely by chance is less than 3 in 10,000
for the S&P 500, and 7 in 10,000 for the Dow.”
—Dr. Ken Cavanaugh, Professor of Applied
Statistics,
Maharishi University of Management |
|
The Dow Jones
Industrial Index and the S&P 500 posted total gains of approximately
10%, with the Dow repeatedly hitting all-time record levels and the S&P
reaching a 5.5-year high, during the first 88 days of a major scientific
demonstration project to monitor the effects of a group of 1200 advanced
Transcendental Meditation experts on national economic, social, and even
climatic trends.
The project,
entitled the “Invincible America Assembly,” is being held at Maharishi
University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, and is being funded by a
$12 million annual grant from the “Howard and Alice Settle Foundation
for an Invincible America.”
The results of a
sophisticated econometric analysis by Dr. Ken Cavanaugh, Professor of
Applied Statistics at Maharishi University of Management, were released
today after the Dow broke 12,000 for the first time, fulfilling
predictions publicly announced before the course for a record-breaking
bull market and a robust economy.
Dr. Cavanaugh said
the behavior of the Dow and the S&P during the past 88 days are in
marked contrast with the period prior to the course, when the Dow was
decreasing on average slightly less than 0.02% percent per week from
January 1, 2000, through the week prior to the course. For the same
period, the S&P 500 Index was decreasing at an average weekly rate of
more than 0.04%.
However,
immediately following the start of the course on July 23, there was a
dramatic change in the direction of both indexes. Both shifted suddenly
to a strong positive average rate of growth of approximately 0.8%
percent per week.
“Time series
impact assessment analysis confirms that this change is highly
statistically significant,” Dr. Cavanaugh said. “The probability of
observing such a large increase in the rate of growth purely by chance
is less than 3 in 10,000 for the S&P 500, and 7 in 10,000 for the Dow.”
According to Dr.
John Hagelin, world-renowned quantum physicist, who is directing the
scientific demonstration project, the group of 1200 Transcendental
Meditation–Yogic Flyers are “creating coherence in national
consciousness—generating confidence, optimism, and positivity in the
national mood. Sociologists as well as economists are aware that the
markets are an extremely nimble and sensitive barometer of the
collective consciousness,” Dr. Hagelin said.
Since the course
began:
•
The Dow has soared over 1000 points—with
its best third quarter in a decade—while the S&P rose to its highest
levels in over five years, adding an estimated $1.5 trillion to
America’s corporate net worth
•
The price of oil, which peaked at $78 a
barrel in mid-July, plummeted more than 25% to below $58 a barrel—with
gas prices dropping 25% as well
•
Consumer confidence has risen to its
highest levels this year
• U.S.
unemployment rate dropped to a five-year low |
|
Dire forecasts of
a destructive Atlantic hurricane season have proven unfounded, as no
hurricanes struck U.S. shores this year, saving the nation an estimated
$200 billion in hurricane costs compared with last year, when Katrina
alone caused an estimated $150 billion in damages.
Dr. Hagelin, who
also serves as the Director of the Institute of Science, Technology and
Public Policy at Maharishi University of Management and Minister of
Science and Technology of the Global Country of World Peace, explained
that changes in the weather can arise from changes in the collective
behavior of society due to the “acute sensitivity of the nonlinear
partial differential equations governing the weather to small changes in
initial conditions”—a scientifically established phenomenon popularly
known as the Butterfly Effect.
Extensive
published research documents the Maharishi Effect
The positive
developments over the past 88 days are consistent with prior studies,
Dr. Hagelin said, citing extensive research published in leading,
peer-reviewed scientific journals, which documents reduced negative
trends, including reduced crime and violence, and improved economic and
social trends when as few as the square root of one percent of a
population practice Yogic Flying together in a group.
Momentum for
national transformation is about to accelerate
Dr. Hagelin
emphasized that, as significant as the economic developments of the past
88 days have been, the momentum for national transformation is about to
accelerate, with another 500 to 1000 Yogic Flyers joining the group of
1200 Yogic Flyers at Maharishi University of Management in the coming
weeks to produce an even more powerful influence of coherence in
collective consciousness.
“This is not
wishful thinking,” Dr. Hagelin said. “This is hard science that has been
field tested for over 50 years and documented through more than 600
studies conducted at over 250 independent universities and research
institutes throughout the world.”
Dr. Hagelin added
that similar groups of TM–Yogic Flyers are now being established in 39
more countries to create a “Ring of Invincibility” around the world—to
boost the global economy and create a powerful influence of peace
worldwide. |

Hansen: Iowa
meditators
shield Lebanon, rally stocks
BY MARC HANSEN,
REGISTER COLUMNIST
If you follow the news, you might have
noticed two seemingly unrelated developments.
One, the hurricane season has been a
dud. Last year, it was one killer tropical storm after another. This
year, we’re still waiting for the big one to crash onto the shoreline.
The forecasts were frightening. This
hurricane season was supposed to be worse than the last, when Katrina
and her friends led to more than 2,000 deaths and billions of dollars in
destruction.
Two, the stock market has moved into
record territory, with the Dow Jones industrial average closing at
12,116.91, its best historical close.
A coincidence? No, the Maharishi Effect.
It’s the 1,200 advanced Transcendental
Meditators who are camping out for six hours a day in Fairfield and
elsewhere, “creating coherence in national consciousness” and changing
the national mood.
Granted, it sounds unusual. But since
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi himself predicted this would happen back in July,
who are we to argue?
It’s important to challenge mainstream
thinking. You don’t want to be the guy who told Guglielmo Marconi there
was no future in wireless communications.
The man in charge of the “Invincible
America Course” is John Hagelin, a quantum physicist who graduated summa
cum laude from Dartmouth, earned a doctorate from Harvard and was a
researcher at Stanford before moving to Fairfield and becoming the
director of the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy at
the Maharishi University of Management.
He also ran for president three times as
a third-party candidate and collected lots of votes in Jefferson County.
He isn’t running this time, mostly because he’s busy making sure the
United States is surrounded with a protective shield of collective
consciousness.
This isn’t something a person does in a
regular 40-hour work week, so it took a while to catch up with him. When
I did, he was in the Netherlands on a European speaking tour. |
|
The original idea, he said, was to
restore peace in Lebanon.
I wasn’t sure how a group of 1,200
“yogic flyers” in Iowa and another 200 in Washington, D.C., could stop
the bombing in the Middle East.
But Hagelin is convinced it did. He
answers the skeptics by referring to field-tested, peer-reviewed
documentation in 600 studies and 250 independent research institutes
around the world.
“We are not disconnected from each
other,” he said. “We influence each other. Wars are nothing other than
the outburst of pent-up societal stress in critical hot spots.”
Get a large group of advanced meditators
together for six hours at a time, things happen. The mind settles down,
awareness expands ... and expands ... until it permeates the collective
consciousness. The stress level goes down, people stop shooting each
other.
“The U.S. wasn’t using the leverage we
have in that part of the world,” Hagelin said. “We weren’t encouraging
moderation on Israel’s part. We started this course principally to
provide a cooling influence and sanity in our foreign policy.”
It wasn’t long before U.S. Secretary of
State Condoleezza Rice was changing her plans and flying to Lebanon. A
few days later, the United States was helping craft a cease-fire.
“It was quite an amazing turnabout,” he
said.
The good feelings spill over into the
economy. Consumer confidence picks up, which leads to more optimism, a
better economy and higher stock prices.
“The stock market,” Hagelin said, “was a
side effect, an expression of the collective mood.”
Stocks up, gas prices down. Consumer confidence rises, unemployment
drops.
Stocks won’t grow straight to the sky,
Hagelin warned. There will be burps and corrections and mini-panics. But
the swings won’t be so extreme.
All right, then. If meditation works so
well in Lebanon, why not Iraq?
“Lebanon was easier to quell,” Hagelin
said.” Iraq is an entrenched mess. The mistakes that have been made will
take time to unwind. Iraq is a victim of intense social stress of its
own. It’s there in spades, but it can be unwound. We have to give the
Iraqis and their geographical neighbors a big dose of this
stress-reducing technology. At some point, when tensions are less acute,
an act of violence no longer results in a retaliatory act. Then you
suddenly tip the equation into a state of de-escalating violence.”
Iraq won’t be as easy, he said, but the
union of modern science and ancient wisdom can be a wonderful thing.
Don’t rule it out. Don’t be the guy who
doubted Marconi.

The
Transition Phase
(September 27, 2006) Press Conference Highlights -
Maharishi: ‘Jai Guru Dev. I have spent years and have produced thousands
of teachers of Transcendental Meditation and all the structures of the
Global Country of World Peace. What I have achieved is the transition
from a worthless quality of life to a worthwhile quality of life. I have
done that.
‘Now I am going to spend my time on the system of life that will govern
life, that will administer life in favor of all positivity, no
negativity, leading to the invincibility of every nation. Now my time
will go on this positive thing. I have achieved the phase transition.
And the Prime Minister will continue to bring the effect of this phase
transition in the world.
‘And now I will spend my time on this. My time of talking is over. I
need some silent hours that will bring out the silent level of
administration which will be directly related to the invincibility of
every nation in our world.
‘So, Prime Minister, continue with the world press. Tell them I will
talk to the world press when I have created this. I have said that the
phase transition is achieved. Now I have to achieve that system of
administration which will rule out any negativity in the world, which
will have the world grow in the dignity of all positivity and coherence,
in integration of national consciousness and invincibility for every
government in the family of nations.
‘My time of talking is over. Prime Minister, we have said today: keep on
giving weekly meetings, every time with Dr Hagelin. All the leaders of
the Movement and thousands of initiators and advanced teachers have been
created. Take them all and complete the phase transition process.
Complete the phase transition process. And I will be preparing a package
of that system of living, that system of administration, that system of
all different values of life, which will lead to invincibility—to the
high dignity of invincibility in every country.
‘All glory to Guru Dev.’
