Presents plan to
build 3,000 Peace Palaces worldwide (March 3, 2003) His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi offered a “peaceful, cosmic challenge to warring nations” during a global news conference on Wednesday: “Your time to destroy is coming to an end. We are creating a coherent world consciousness that will prevent any negativity from arising anywhere on earth and that will bring peace, prosperity, and happiness to the whole world family.” Maharishi’s program to create permanent world peaceDuring the news conference, Maharishi presented his program to create permanent world peace, which calls for establishing groups of 8,000 peace-creating experts on every continent, including a larger group of 40,000 experts in India, to create coherence and harmony in world consciousness—the basis for lasting world peace. In addition, the plan calls for building 3,000 Peace Palaces in the world’s largest 3,000 cities to offer the complete knowledge of peace to the whole world’s population. Efforts are already under way to establish the first 100 Peace Palaces in the United States. “These Peace Palaces will offer the knowledge of peace—the Science of Consciousness—to enrich all areas of life and make the administration of every nation prevention-oriented and problem-free,” Maharishi said. Consciousness is the basis of life Maharishi explained that consciousness is the basis of life. “Scientific research reveals that the entire physical universe—including the human physiology—is just the expression of consciousness. Fortunately, the complete Science of Consciousness to bring perfection in life is available in the Vedic literature of ancient India, and in the literature of every religion. It is just a matter of introducing this knowledge into the health care, education, and defence programs of every country for every nation to enjoy freedom, dignity, and invincibility.” | ||

Maharishi acknowledged that his offer might sound “too fantastic to be true.” But he emphasized that the offer is based on nearly 50 years experience of bringing enlightenment to millions of people throughout the world through Transcendental Meditation and its advanced programs—and on hundreds of scientific research studies that document the effectiveness of these programs for creating peace in the individual, the nation, and the world. President Bush is doing what he thinks is rightIn response to a question about an impending U.S.-led war against Iraq, Maharishi acknowledged that President Bush is doing what he thinks is best to create peace—even though it violates the teaching of all religions that “killing is sin.” “There is something in the brain of President Bush that makes him think that the world will be neat and clean if he eliminates wrong people from the earth,” Maharishi said. “President Bush wants to promote peace through violence. We want to promote peace through a peaceful approach. But President Bush has made his decision and the American people have made their choice to support him. That is America today. What can we do?” Maharishi cautioned that while everyone is free to choose what they want in life, nevertheless, they have to be prepared to accept the consequences of their actions. “Both poison and nectar are sold in the market. Those who want poison can poison themselves. Those who want nectar can take nectar. It’s a choice. You can do what you want, but you must bear the consequences of your choice.” Consciousness-based education for spontaneous right decisionsMaharishi said that the only way to ensure that people make the right choices—and avoid the effects of wrong actions—is to develop total brain functioning through his Consciousness-based approach to education. “We want the administration of every country to be in accord with Total Natural Law—the Constitution of the Universe—which administers the infinite diversity of the universe with perfect order,” Maharishi said. “Then everyone will use their full brain potential and rise to higher states of consciousness so that spontaneously they will never do anything that is considered a sin or wrong—they will never encounter problems or difficulties.” Science of Consciousness is destined to be adopted by every governmentMaharishi closed the news conference by saying that the transformation of today’s problem-ridden world into a world of peace, prosperity, and happiness can take place overnight because “the moment a candle is lit the darkness disappears.” And Maharishi emphasized that his Science of Consciousness is destined to be adopted by every government. “It may happen today, it may happen tomorrow—or a government may wait for 100 years and introduce it then. Governments can be wise and introduce it now—or they can be unwise and continue down the path of problems and suffering. It is their choice. However, as soon as any government indicates a desire, we are ready to create the effect of coherence and peace.” | |

Cabinet-level representatives of the U.S. Peace Government Dr. Hagelin said that he is seeking two to four top scientists, educators, health care professionals, and other experts in each of the 50 states “who have demonstrated a strong commitment to the public good, and who possess the deep knowledge of total Natural Law—the Unified Field—and the practical competence to lead society in a peaceful and evolutionary direction.” These scientists will be the Cabinet-level representatives of the U.S. Peace Government. Twofold purpose of the U.S. Peace Government Dr. Hagelin explained the twofold purpose of the U.S. Peace Government. “The establishment of this knowledge-based Peace Government is, in part, to replace our corrupt, money-driven system with the principle of a ‘meritocracy’—leadership by the competent. But its primary purpose is to engage the higher intelligence of Natural Law—the Constitution of the Universe—to raise man-made government to be on a par with Nature’s Government, which administers the ever-expanding universe with perfect order.” “America needs your enlightened leadership” Dr. Hagelin called on America’s top scientists, health care professionals, and educators to take action. “America needs your knowledge and enlightened leadership at this very critical time. We cannot stand idle and witness the precipitous decline of America’s standing in the family of nations, the dangerous erosion of national and global security, the failure of education, the collapse of health care. We who are blessed with world-transforming knowledge of the deepest principles of Nature’s Government, who know how to prevent problems, and who are experts in the field of peace must rise up and fulfill our leadership responsibility.” America’s first government Dr. Hagelin concluded his appeal by saying that Cabinet members will hold exalted, dignified roles of leadership through knowledge. “We will transform the destiny of our nation through the theoretical understanding, and practical utilization, of total Natural Law—the Unified Field—the ultimate level of science and technology. And although the new Peace Government will become popularly known as America’s second government, history will reveal that it is, in fact, America’s first government. “If we are successful, the world will be in heaven”
(March 18, 2003) His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi dismissed as “a shame and a child’s play” the democratic systems prevailing in the world today because they surrender the leadership of the country “to mediocres and passersby on the street.” Instead, Maharishi said, government should be entrusted to scientists, doctors, and educators of expert intelligence who possess the complete knowledge of Natural Law to create prevention-oriented, problem-free administration. Maharishi cited the money-driven politics of wealthy nations and the corrupt practices in poor countries where politicians distribute blankets or money to collect votes and win elections. “It’s not money that will successfully administer the nation,” Maharishi said. “It’s the expert intelligence—the fully developed mind of the leaders.” Second government provides the solutionMaharishi’s solution calls for every country to establish a second, complementary government to be headed by top scientists, health professionals, and educators. “These leaders will promote the deep scientific principles of Natural Law to create prevention-oriented, problem-free administration. They will also implement practical programs that have been scientifically proven to prevent problems in all areas of society, including in education, health care, and defense.” Maharishi emphasized that the second government will not usurp any of the responsibilities of current administrations.

Global Country of World Peace The U.S. Peace Government will be the American affiliate of the Global Country of World Peace, which was established two years ago by Maharishi as “a nation without borders for peace-loving people everywhere.” The Global Country of World Peace offers governments the profound scientific knowledge and programs of total Natural Law available in Maharishi’s Vedic Science to promote prevention-oriented, problem-free administration in every country. Dr. Hagelin serves as the Minister of Science and Technology of the Global Country of World Peace.
Fatal flaw of all political systems Maharishi explained that the fatal flaw of democracy and all other political systems can be found in their man-made constitutions, which are rife with human weaknesses and failings. “Government will always be a mockery as long as human intelligence administers human affairs,” Maharishi said. “Human affairs have to be administered by the higher intelligence of Natural Law, which governs the infinite diversity of the universe with perfect order and in the evolutionary direction. We have the torch of total knowledge of Natural Law and we are prepared to spread the light. Even if it is midnight, if you light the lamp in your own house, you can live in light. creating the U.S. Peace Government (March 21, 2003) His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi declared the world to be at a critical crossroad, with every government forced to make a choice: Continue down the path of destruction, which threatens to engulf the world, or apply the knowledge that will create permanent world peace. “We have repeatedly offered every government leader the knowledge to create prevention-oriented, problem-free administration. Now they have to decide whether to take the offer today—or ignore it and continue to let their people suffer,” Maharishi said. “But every government should know that there is no reason to postpone the onset of a bright new destiny for their country.” Maharishi calls for a second governmentMaharishi emphasized the immediacy of his offer. He said that in today’s crisis-ridden world, no one is satisfied with government—neither the leaders nor the people—and the problems are only getting worse. “We are raising the voice for governments to make use of the higher intelligence of Natural Law that governs the infinite diversity of the universe with perfect order. We invite every country to establish a ‘second government’ of peace-creating experts to bring the support of Natural Law to their administration to prevent all problems.” Creating peace in the nation from the field of peaceMaharishi said that the second government will function independently from the national government—but will bring success to all the administration’s undertakings. Now it is just a matter of how soon we can apply it in every nation. I have a long-term program—my organization will be available to government leaders in every generation who decide to create prevention-oriented, problem-free administration. But even if just a few countries accept our offer now and establish a second government—that will be enough for the whole world consciousness to be harmonious, happy, and free from negativity. Solution to all problems is to bring
“Open your awareness
to the light of God Transcendental Meditation” (March 30, 2003) His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi declared this week in addressing all the followers of all religions of the world that the solution to all problems will be found in enlivening the light of God—total Natural Law—in everyone.
“The light of God is always evolutionary and guides the infinite diversity of the ever-expanding universe with perfect order,” Maharishi said. “The only way to solve the problems of religion, politics, economics, education, health, defence, and administration is for everyone to enliven the light of God within himself and spontaneously radiate it around him through all his thought, speech and behaviour.”
“Omnipresence is the quality of the light of God which is the goal of all religions,” Maharishi said. “Omnipresence means ‘beyond boundaries,’ and therefore it is transcendental. The way to bring the light of God is to open one’s awareness to the transcendental field through Transcendental Meditation—a universal technique which through many different expressions is certainly available in the holy texts of every religion. It is simple, it is direct, it naturally draws the mind and brings the support of the light of God from the transcendental field of self-referral consciousness. And when this is done by groups the effect is more, depending on the size of the groups practising togetherrom the angle of religion is that if large groups of people are professionally engaged by the leaders of religion in different parts of the world, positivity and harmony will prevail in the family of nations.” | |

All current approaches to human well-being obviously require this support.
Maharishi said that in the absence of the light of God, all current, man-made approaches to promote human well-being are weak. Maharishi commented on • Weakness in the field of politics: “No government has succeeded because its administration is based on man-made constitutions with inherent human weaknesses and failings.” • Weakness of medicine: “Modern medicine fails to prevent disease because it is not connected with the basis of physiology, which is consciousness, the light of God.” • Weakness in economy: “World economy is unable to maintain balance in the field of wealth. Half the world is poor, discrediting present day economy as a road to peace and affluence.” • Weakness of defence: “No nation is capable of defending itself because no defence is prevention oriented. Defence must be prevention oriented—it must ‘avert the danger that has not yet come’ which is the Vedic formula for defence. Then only the word defence can be meaningful.” • Weakness of education: “Education is not consciousness based—it fails to develop total brain functioning. It does not promote the cosmic creative intelligence of the student.”
Remain in light and darkness will not be found Maharishi explained that all such approaches are ineffective because they are based on human conjecture—and because people in leadership positions have what neuroscientists call “functional holes” in their brains due to their past, or present, use of alcohol and drugs. This makes them unable to understand and implement effective new solutions. “The only way to solve problems is to bring the light of God—and for that, go to the transcendental field,” Maharishi said. “I am offering the world something practical. Take it or suffer. My advice is: Remain in light and darkness will not touch you.” | |
