(July 1, 2003) The new U.S. Peace Government will create harmony in national consciousness and peacefully put an end to America’s destructive tendencies, which threaten the family of nations. This dramatic transformation will not come from endless, divisive discussions within the existing government. Rather, it will come from groups of peace-creating experts in Washington, D.C., and in major cities throughout the country who will enliven the field of unity at the basis of life and promote balance in the administration of the nation.

This was the message delivered to the press by His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi during his weekly global news conference held on Wednesday, June 25, and broadcast live via satellite, Internet webcast, and teleconference call. Maharishi’s next news conferences will be held on July 2 and 3.

U.S. Peace Government to be launched on July 2 in Washington, D.C.

Dr. John Hagelin will officially launch the U.S. Peace Government during an international news conference at the historic Hay-Adams Hotel in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, July 2, at 10 a.m. (EDT). The launch will be held one hour prior to Maharishi’s global news conference, and will also be broadcast live internationally. Dr. Hagelin is a world-renowned quantum physicist, Natural Law Party presidential candidate in 2000, and Minister of Science and Technology of the Global Country of World Peace.

The U.S. Peace Government is being established to promote scientifically proven programs to effectively prevent problems—in health care, education, defense, economy, energy, agriculture, and the environment. It will not usurp the responsibilities of the existing government, which is primarily concerned with crisis management.

Peace-creating groups in Washington and nationwide

The U.S. Peace Government’s peace plan calls for establishing several groups of 100 to 200 peace-creating experts throughout Washington, D.C., as well as similar groups in the capital city of every state and in every other major city in the country. These experts will practice Transcendental Meditation morning and evening to promote their own peace, happiness, and success. And, as a side benefit for society, they will radiate a powerful influence of coherence and harmony throughout the city, state, nation, and world.

Maharishi explained that there are already many groups in Washington, such as the Senate and House of Representatives, that administer different aspects of national life. “Now, there will be groups of people who will dive deep into the Unified Field—their own Transcendental Consciousness—to enliven unity in the midst of diversity,” Maharishi said. “Then diversity—differences—will no longer lead to dissension. Then administration will be balanced and the nation will be a beautiful mosaic of differences.”

Maharishi’s approach is simple, profound, and verified by scientific research

Maharishi said that the practice of such technologies of consciousness is the responsibility of every citizen. “It is not enough for a citizen to simply vote for a president, a governor, or mayor every four years,” Maharishi said. “They should also practice Transcendental Meditation to develop their total brain physiology and promote positivity in the nation.”

Maharishi emphasized that his approach is not new. “We have been teaching Transcendental Meditation to millions of people throughout the world for nearly 50 years. The theory is profound, the practice is simple—and the results have been verified by hundreds of scientific studies.”

Global Country of World Peace

Maharishi said that the establishment of the U.S. Peace Government will bring fulfillment to the aspiration of the Global Country of World Peace “to promote a new world of affluence and peace.” The Global Country of World Peace was founded by Maharishi in October 2000 as a nation without borders for peace-loving people everywhere. The Global Country of World Peace is offering to every government coherent national consciousness, which will create prevention-oriented, problem-free administration in every nation—the basis of permanent peace on earth.

A “win-win” situation for everyone

“The Peace Government is rising naturally to bring an end to destructive tendencies in the world. The individual will gain, society will gain, the nation will gain, and the world will gain,” Maharishi said. “I am reminded of an American expression: It is a ‘win-win’ situation for everyone.”

(July 8, 2003) The historic inauguration of the new U.S. Peace Government during America’s Independence Day celebrations fulfills the supreme purpose of government and heralds a new era of peace and affluence for the nation and the whole world family.

This was the proclamation by His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi to members of the international press corps during a special news conference to launch the U.S. Peace Government held in Washington, D.C., on July 2, and to hundreds of cabinet members and delegates attending the gala inaugural convention of the U.S. Peace Government in Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa, on July 4.

The two events were broadcast live via satellite, Internet webcast, and teleconference call. Maharishi will hold his next global news conferences on July 9 and 10.

Creating harmony in America and peace in the world

Dr. John Hagelin, world-renowned quantum physicist and founding leader of the U.S. Peace Government, explained during the news conference that “the new, ‘complementary’ government will create harmony in America and peace in the world. It will not usurp the responsibilities of the existing government, which is primarily focused on crisis management.” Four hundred of America’s top scientists, physicians, and educators from all 50 states will serve as cabinet members.

Fulfilling the desire for a happy, peaceful, and affluent life

Maharishi said that the emergence of the Peace Government comes as the fulfillment of the desire of individuals throughout the ages for life on earth to be happy, peaceful, and affluent. It also comes as the culmination of the natural evolution over time of the principles and practices of government.

“Despite the development of so many different systems of administration—monarchy, dictatorship, democracy—and despite the best intentions of each new generation to improve upon the quality of life, the whole world family continues to face problems everywhere. This is because governments are based on manmade constitutions with their inherent human weaknesses and failings. As a result, no government is capable of fulfilling the desires of its millions of citizens.

“Now, however, with the complete knowledge of Natural Law available in ancient Vedic science and modern science, the Peace Government is equipped with the knowledge and programs to bring fulfillment to every system of government. These programs will enliven in individual and national consciousness the unifying influence of total Natural Law—the Constitution of the Universe—which underlies and integrates all diversity. Every individual will develop his total brain physiology and cosmic creative intelligence so that he can fulfill his desires. And every nation will be administered through peace, not through fear of punishment,” Maharishi said.

Establishing Peace Palaces—Capitals of the U.S. Peace Government

The U.S. Peace Government is now establishing 200 Peace Palaces in the nation’s largest 200 cities. Each Peace Palace will be a Capital of the U.S. Peace Government. It will be a center for 100 to 200 peace-creating experts whose daily practice of Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying will promote coherent national consciousness. It will also offer consciousness-based programs to prevent problems in all areas of society—health care, education, defense, economy, energy, agriculture, and the environment. Three Peace Palaces have already opened in Bethesda, Maryland; Lexington, Kentucky; and Fairfield, Iowa.

Global Country of World Peace

The U.S. Peace Government is the American affiliate of Maharishi’s Global Country of World Peace—“a nation without borders for peace-loving people everywhere.” The Global Country of World Peace is establishing 3,000 Peace Palaces in the world’s largest 3,000 cities—including the 200 Peace Palaces in the United States. It is also establishing groups of 8,000 peace-creating experts on every continent, including a larger group of 40,000 experts in India.

“These groups of peace-creating experts will quietly radiate total Natural Law—the light of God—throughout the whole society and promote coherent world consciousness. Then no one will suffer—no one will face problems or difficulties,” Maharishi said.

A perfect civilization worthy of this scientific age

Maharishi then concluded: “The success of the Peace Government is ensured because the knowledge of total Natural Law in our possession today is complete in its theory and practice—and because every intelligent man experiences that the knowledge which has been guiding life so far is unsatisfactory. So it doesn’t matter how dark it has been in the night, because now it is the time for the dawn. Soon we will have a beautiful administration in every country that will give rise to an ideal civilization—a perfect civilization that is worthy of this scientific age.”
