Maharishi’s message to the world press:
“Dr. Hagelin should be the next U.S. president”

Dr. Hagelin is a top scientist who will restore
 America’s dignity and lead the world out of problems

Bush has made America a laughingstock in the world 

(November 29, 2002) His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi voiced strong support for Dr. John Hagelin, world-renowned quantum physicist, to be the next president of the United States, saying that he will restore America’s dignity in the world, and lead the family of nations out of problems.

Maharishi’s comments came during his weekly global news conference held on Wednesday, November 27, 2002. The news conference was broadcast live via satellite, Internet webcast, and teleconference call.

Maharishi also congratulated Dr. Hagelin on his global initiative to establish “rule by the competent”—and thereby end the legacy of small-minded, incompetent government leaders who are creating a mess of the world. Dr. Hagelin is inspiring top scientists in every nation with knowledge of the physical sciences and science of Consciousness to apply their total scientific knowledge of Natural Law to create problem-free, prevention-oriented government. “Dr. Hagelin will make the U.S. government and every other government sensible,” Maharishi said.

Dr. Hagelin was the presidential nominee of the Natural Law Party during the 2000 election and now serves as the Minister of Science and Technology of the Global Country of World Peace.

The world will rise in affluence and peace with Dr. Hagelin as U.S. president

Maharishi had strong words for U.S. President Bush, saying that Bush’s public statements have made America a “laughingstock” in the world. Maharishi also termed Bush’s constant threats to destroy those who disagree with him as “a wild and dangerous attitude from an illiterate man who is far, far away from science.”

Maharishi said that the old problem-ridden world will rise in affluence and peace when Dr. Hagelin is president of the United States. “Instead of the current president who says, ‘This is my America, and I will destroy everyone,’ Dr. Hagelin will say, ‘This is my America, and this is my world, and I will support everyone.’”

Maharishi added that governments in every country should be in the hands of leading scientists—knowledgeable about Natural Law from both the physical sciences and from science of Consciousness, available in the ancient Vedic literature. Dr. Hagelin has also probed into the deepest levels of Nature’s functioning from the angle of modern Physics and has seen that all the physical expressions on the surface of life are administered with perfect order by the abstract, unifying intelligence of Total Natural Law—the field of consciousness.

Is it wise for scientists to administer a nation?

In response to a reporter’s question about the wisdom of giving scientists the reigns of power, since modern science has been responsible for many of the world’s problems, Maharishi replied, “Gaining knowledge is a scientific procedure—but utilizing that knowledge for either negative or positive purposes is society’s free will. The systematic discovery of Natural Law through science is good, but the misuse of that scientific knowledge by politicians is damaging to the dignity of science.”

Vedic science is the key to successful administration

Maharishi said scientists should follow the lead of Dr. Hagelin and gain the complete knowledge of the Unified Field of Natural Law available in the Vedic Science of Consciousness. “Scientific investigation into Natural Law reaches its climax in Vedic science with the discovery that human consciousness, on its own unified level, is the custodian of the infinite diversity of the universe.”

Maharishi said that his Vedic technologies of consciousness enliven Natural Law in individual and collective consciousness, bringing every individual’s thought and action spontaneously into accord with Natural Law and raising the life of the nation above the reach of problems and conflict.

“Vedic science will provide scientists with the knowledge and technologies to serve successfully as advisors to governments—or to take over the administration of their nations,” Maharishi said.

Enlivening Total Natural Law

Maharishi then outlined his global program to enliven Total Natural Law in world consciousness. The plan calls for establishing several large groups of 8,000 Yogic Flyers across the globe, including one larger group of 40,000 experts in India. In addition, 3,000 Peace Palaces will be built in the world’s largest 3,000 cities—each Peace Palace will be home to a group of 100 to 200 Yogic Flyers.

Extensive research, published in leading, peer-reviewed scientific journals during the past 30 years, has demonstrated that large coherence-creating groups effectively neutralize the acute ethnic, religious, and political tensions that fuel violence and conflict, promoting peace and harmony in the world family.

Maharishi’s Thanksgiving Day message

The news conference was held one day before Thanksgiving was celebrated in America, and Maharishi delivered a special message to commemorate the day.

“America has a tradition of being thankful to God, who is all-merciful and whose design is for all mankind to be healthy, happy and peaceful. We are thankful to God because every individual is endowed with a brain physiology that can enliven cosmic creative intelligence—total Natural Law—within. And we are thankful to God for giving us the right inspiration and the right procedures to establish that supreme level of collective consciousness, which will spontaneously create problem-free, mistake-free life everywhere. It is possible to do it, and we are going to do it. It will be a great joy for the press to report that it is done.”

(December 6, 2002) His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi delivered a bold holiday message of positivity and hope for today’s problem-ridden world when he declared, “history will record this period as the dawn of a new light of peace and prosperity for all mankind.”

Maharishi emphasized that his message of peace was not a vain hope, but rather a realistic vision based on science—the total knowledge of the physical sciences and the Science of Consciousness available in the ancient Vedic wisdom of ancient India.

“We have seen the terrible results in the world created by the fragmented approaches of physics and chemistry and other sciences. However, the Science of Consciousness will make modern science complete and will transform this world of problems and conflict into a peaceful, harmonious family of nations,” Maharishi said.

Enlivening the deepest level of Nature’s functioning

Maharishi said that this new science of Total Natural Law provides the knowledge and technologies to enliven in the individual and society the deepest level of Nature’s functioning—the Unified Field of Natural Law—so that everyone develops their cosmic creative potential and every nation enjoys affluence and peace.

The seat of the Unified Field of Natural Law is within you

“The Science of Consciousness reveals that the seat of the Unified Field of Natural Law is within you, within me, and within all of existence, everywhere,” Maharishi said. “It’s the same one field of unity that administers the infinite diversity of the universe with perfect order. This field of Total Natural Law, which is described today in the language of science, is the same field of Divine Intelligence that has been the eternal song of every religion throughout the ages,” Maharishi said. 

Transcendental Meditation develops total brain functioning—
the key to creating world peace

Maharishi said that the way to enliven Total Natural Law is through Transcendental Meditation, a simple, scientifically proven technique, which provides the direct experience of the Unified Field in the fourth major state of consciousness, Transcendental Consciousness, and develops the full potential of the brain.

Maharishi also said that Transcendental Meditation is the key to preventing war and creating peace. “The world will be peaceful only when individuals are peaceful—only when individuals are using their full brain and enjoying their cosmic creative potential in daily life. There is no other way.”

His Majesty Raja Raam—
the First Ruler of the Global Country of World Peace

Maharishi then introduced His Majesty Raja Raam, the First Ruler of the Global Country of World Peace, as the great scientist whose research into human physiology has revealed that every physical structure in the universe, including the human body, is nothing other than the expression of consciousness. His discovery has proven the supremacy of consciousness over matter.

Maharishi announced that His Majesty Raja Raam will soon offer the total knowledge of Natural Law to make education ideal for every individual and to make administration ideal for every nation—without disturbing any existing government.

“We are creating a different world—a world of enlightenment where everyone will enjoy Unity Consciousness,” Maharishi said. “Soon the Administration of Natural Law will be the guiding light of world politics and world economy. Soon the administration of every nation will be prevention-oriented and problem-free.”

Maharishi’s program to create permanent world peace

Maharishi’s program to create permanent world peace calls for establishing several large groups of 8,000 experts in his Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying across the globe, including one larger group of 40,000 experts in India. In addition, 3,000 Peace Palaces will be built in the world’s largest 3,000 cities—each Peace Palace will be home to a group of 100 to 200 Yogic Flyers.

Maharishi offers Vedic defence as alternative
to Bush’s strategy of pre-emptive force

“Vedic defence will eliminate the enmity
between nations that fuels conflict and war—

pre-emptive strikes will just invite retaliation, not peace”

(December 16, 2002) His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi offered a prudent alternative to President Bush’s strategy of pre-emptive strikes against nations suspected of harbouring weapons of mass destruction. Maharishi called for the implementation in every country of the prevention-oriented Vedic system of defence of ancient India, which will eliminate the enmity between nations that fuels conflict and war.

President Bush’s military strategy

Responding to a question about President Bush’s decision to abandon a 50-year military policy of deterrence and containment in favour of a strategy of pre-emptive force, Maharishi acknowledged that the President was trying his best to defend America based on the limited knowledge that he has—even though his actions could destroy the world.

Offensive strategies are never defensive

However, Maharishi emphasized, any military strategy based on offensive weapons—no matter how destructive or how numerous they may be—will never safeguard a nation against unseen terrorist enemies, or even against a single missile that can turn society to ashes. Rather, the use of destructive weapons will invite retaliation and attack. “Offensive strategies are not defensive,” Maharishi said. “If you are offensive to a nation, that nation—or friends of that nation—will be offensive to you.”

Prevention is the only answer

The only way to stop war is to prevent enmity from arising, Maharishi said, and that can be accomplished through Vedic defence, which will transform today’s stressed world consciousness—a breeding ground for negativity and conflict—into a coherent, harmonious family of nations. For that, Maharishi called for establishing throughout the world several large groups of 8,000 experts practicing his Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying, including one larger group of 40,000 experts in India. In addition, 3,000 Peace Palaces are to be built in the world’s largest 3,000 cities—each Peace Palace to be home to 100 to 200 Yogic Flyers.

A better world within a few months

When asked by a reporter if he would seek government support to establish the groups, Maharishi said that he is in too much of a hurry to waste time waiting for governments to respond. Instead, Maharishi said, he is accomplishing the task on his own, with support of individuals worldwide, and he is doing so quickly —“because we don’t know what will happen in the world tomorrow.” However, Maharishi assured the press, “through our global efforts, within just a few months, the world will be a better, brighter world.”

Proper education the solution to crime—not punishment

Maharishi also declared that just as war will never be stopped through offensive means of defense, crime will never be stopped through punishment. “Every country has laws to punish the offenders, but crime has never been eliminated. Any crime that is committed anywhere is due to the lack of proper education. The fault lies with government because government is responsible for education.”

His Majesty Raja Raam offers ideal education and administration

Maharishi said that His Majesty Raja Raam, the First Ruler of the Global Country of World Peace, is promoting Vedic education so that students will develop their full brain potential, and he is promoting Vedic administration so that the administration of every nation will be as nourishing and evolutionary as the Administration of Natural Law, which governs the infinite diversity of the universe with perfect order.

“Such ideal education will ensure that people don’t create problems for themselves or for others, and such ideal administration will prevent the birth of an enemy, both from within the country or outside its borders,” Maharishi said.

His Majesty Raja Raam is the world’s leading neuroscientist whose research into human physiology has revealed that every physical structure in the universe, including the human body, is an expression of consciousness. His discovery has established the primacy of consciousness over matter.

A new time of peace and prosperity for everyone

Maharishi concluded by emphasizing that religions share the same truths: “As you sow, so shall you reap” and “Help thy neighbor.” Maharishi said that when every country has a peace-creating group of Yogic Flyers, then no enemy will be born for any country. “Every country will radiate only good to the world, and then only good will return to every country. Our global effort to establish these groups is creating a new time of peace and prosperity for everyone born in our dear world—now and for all times to come.”

(December 23, 2002) His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi offered his New Year’s gift to the world: The complete knowledge of Natural Law and the expert leadership that will create a new world order of peace, prosperity, and happiness for all mankind. And Maharishi introduced Dr. John Hagelin, world-renowned quantum physicist, as the man most competent to lead America and the family of nations into this new era of world peace.

Maharishi’s announcement came during a recent global news conference. Maharishi’s next news conferences will be held on Wednesday, December 25, and Thursday, December 26. Total knowledge and expert leadership

“We have in our possession the total knowledge of Natural Law, which, since time immemorial, has administered the infinite diversity of the universe with perfect order,” Maharishi said.

“But more than that, we have the embodiment of that higher administrative intelligence in His Majesty Raja Nader Raam, the First Ruler of the Global Country of World Peace. And we have His Majesty Raja Raam’s enlightened Cabinet Ministers—in particular, Dr. John Hagelin, Minister of Science and Technology; Dr. Bevan Morris, Minister of Enlightenment; and Dr. Benjamin Feldman, Minister of Finance—who are custodians of this knowledge and determined to apply what they know to create a better world, free from problems and suffering.”

President Bush’s missile defense system

During Maharishi’s wide-ranging, two-hour question-and-answer session with media on all
continents, a reporter from Boston asked Maharishi to comment on President Bush’s recent decision to build a missile defense system to safeguard the nation from attack. The efficacy of such a system has been debated in Congress for nearly 20 years. The current system is limited in scope and is as yet unproven, has already cost taxpayers $16 billion in the past two years alone, and will take another two years before construction is complete.

Maharishi said that he respected President Bush for offering his services to mankind based on what he knows—“and what he knows is how to smash down the enemy.” However, Maharishi expressed concern about Bush’s limited knowledge—and amazement at Bush’s confidence in the future in light of the current precarious state of world affairs. “President Bush is making preparations now to save the country in two years, but what will he do to save the country every day between now and then? What is his answer to that question?”

Dr. Hagelin’s intelligence to be a guiding light for the world

Maharishi said that the most immediate and effective solution would be for Dr. Hagelin to assume the role of U.S. President. “America’s leadership must be changed at the top level—which is why Dr. Hagelin should be President. Dr. Hagelin is a practical man with a high level of intelligence who can apply the complete scientific knowledge of Natural Law to make America the new guiding light of peace for the family of nations.”

Maharishi added that, alternatively, President Bush could remain in office but invite Dr. Hagelin to be in charge of safety and security for the nation. “In either case, Dr. Hagelin is the solution.”

Every government should work with Dr. Hagelin to create peace

Maharishi also advised every other government to work with Dr. Hagelin to safeguard their nations. “For the world to enjoy peace, every country—large and small—has to be at peace. Therefore, every nation should immediately employ peace-promoting groups of experts in Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying. These groups will enliven Total Natural Law and create coherence in world consciousness. Then every government will enjoy the prevention-oriented, problem-free Administration of Natural Law—the Will of God—and every nation will enjoy affluence and peace. This is the only way to create peace. Everything else is a trash or  a fanciful dream.”

Pledges results within six months

(December 30, 2002) His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi declared the readiness of his Global Country of World Peace to handle all problems plaguing every government and create a problem-free, prevention-oriented administration in every nation—and he pledged results within six months.

“Prevention-oriented administration will mean your government will be so competent and successful that no negativity will sprout in the life of your nation,” Maharishi announced in his New Year’s message to world leaders. Maharishi invited heads-of-state to immediately contract with his Global Country of World Peace so that they don’t have to confront crime and conflict in the coming year.

Maharishi’s declaration came during his recent weekly global news conference. The next news conferences will be held on Wednesday, January 1, and Thursday, January 2. The news conferences will be broadcast live via satellite, Internet webcast, and teleconference call. (Please see page 3 for details.) Questions will be fielded by Ministers of the Global Country of World Peace and by the Honorable Robert Wynne, Mayor of the Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa, USA.

Engaging “Higher Intelligence” to prevent problems

Maharishi said that the Global Country of World Peace will provide the scientifically validated knowledge and technologies to engage “Higher Intelligence” to prevent all problems of administration. “Higher Intelligence—Total Natural Law—administers the infinite diversity of the universe with perfect order. Here is the model of an eternally stable, prevention-oriented, problem-free administration, which we are now offering to create in every country, so that no government has to face problems and no one born on earth has to suffer anymore,” Maharishi said. 

Government is an appalling failure

Maharishi urged the world press to bring his offer to government leaders. He said that the need is obvious and urgent: “Government in every country is an appalling failure. No matter what system, whether it is monarchy, democracy, or dictatorship—everywhere there is sickness and suffering, crime and conflict. And this is because no government has the knowledge of how to prevent problems.” But then Maharishi added, “Maybe government leaders are not aware that the scientific knowledge exists to create a prevention-oriented administration. This knowledge is now the expertise of the administration of His Majesty Raja Raam, First Ruler of the Global Country of World Peace.”

Two components to Maharishi’s offer

Maharishi’s offer to create ideal administration includes two main components:

1. incorporating in the schools, colleges and universities in every country his “Consciousness-based approach to education” to develop the full brain potential and higher states of consciousness of every citizen “so that everyone lives spontaneously in accord with Natural Law—and no one makes mistakes or creates problems for themselves or for others”; and

2. as a “short-cut” to the goal of problem-free administration, establishing a Peace Palace in the nation’s largest cities with a population of over 100,000. Each Peace Palace will be home to a coherence-creating group of 100 to 200 experts in Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying. A total of 3,000 Peace Palaces will be built in the world’s largest 3,000 cities. In addition, Maharishi’s World Peace Plan calls for establishing throughout the world several large groups of 8,000 experts, including a larger group of 40,000 experts in India.

“These small groups in a country will be enough to purify the collective consciousness, and create coherence and harmony, in the whole nation,” Maharishi said. “This is our strength. Even a few small candles will light up a big hall. Even a few small coherence-creating groups will create coherence for the whole nation.”

Fulfills the parental role of governments

Maharishi said that the Global Country of World Peace will bring fulfilment to a government’s parental role to prevent problems in the nation. And it will not conflict with, or usurp, the responsibilities of any existing government. Maharishi added that the Global Country of World Peace has enough experts to train the governments of 200 nations simultaneously. “The Global Country of World Peace is a highly respected, charitable organization throughout the world. Soon there will be a long list of government contracts with the Global Country of World Peace.”

“Don’t delay in contracting with the Global Country of World Peace”

Maharishi concluded by emphasizing that the long legacy of problems in the world has no bearing on the present. “The fact that a room has been in darkness for a thousand years is no excuse if there is electricity available today. The fact that crime has existed for a thousand years is no excuse if there is a solution to crime today. Forget about the past—the times are different today. The knowledge is available to prevent crime, to prevent sickness, to prevent conflict—to prevent all problems,” Maharishi said. “My advice to government leaders is this: ‘Don’t be afraid to adopt new scientific knowledge—and don’t delay in contracting with the Global Country of World Peace. Do it today, because who knows whether there will be a tomorrow for world peace?’”
